Mac Mail (File sending & spam filtering)

These instructions will help you to configure Mac Mail to use both the file sending and the spam filtering services of Tonsho.


Step 1

  • Open Mac Mail, then select Mail / Preferences...

Step 2

  • On the new account dialog that appears, change the Account Type to POP

Step 3

  • Enter the email address you used to sign up to Tonsho
  • Then click the Continue button.

Step 4

  • Set Incoming Mail Server to mail.tonsho.com
  • Set User Name to your tonsho id number 1
  • Enter your tonsho password.
  • Click the Continue button.

Step 5

  • Leave the option Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) set to off
  • Set the authentication method to: Password
  • Click the Continue button.

Step 6

  • Set the Outgoing Mail Server to mail.tonsho.com
  • Check the Use Authentication checkbox.
  • Enter your tonsho mail user id: 1
  • Enter your tonsho password.
  • Click the Continue button.

Step 7

  • Review the settings, then click the Continue button.

Step 8

  • Nearly there... click the done button.

Step 9

  • Go to the account preferences dialog.
  • Click the Server Settings... button.

Step 10

  • Set the Server port to 26
  • Click on OK

Step 11

  • Enter your existing POP3 settings.
  • Click the Save button.

A control to edit your pop settings appears here when you are logged in.

Step 12 (optional)

Import the contacts from your address book, to pre-authorize people you already know, meaning they will not be sent challenge emails when they try to contact you. This can be done using the import button from the allowed contacts page.

Important: For the spam filtering service to function properly, you must not use any existing accounts which pop (receive) mail from your original POP server (pop.example.com).
