Microsoft Exchange Plugin for Large Email Attachments
Tonsho large file transfer is available to use with Microsoft Exchange. Our plugin for Exchange
allows large files to be extracted from all mail passing through your Exchange server, both
in-bound and out-bound. This means that not only do your users benefit from Tonsho's superior
managed file transfer, but we also take the strain away from your mail database. This
keeps the overall database size down and helps you to run a stable and efficient Exchange mail server, by
controlling the server resources used for file storage. Keeping the database size down avoids
the worst case scenario of a corrupted Exchange database due to too many file attachments.
Because Tonsho Exchange Plugin processes both inbound and outbound mail it
also lets users get much more from their inbox quotas. Suppose user's have a 100 MB
mailbox quota assigned. Without Tonsho, mails will be an
average size of 500 kB, allowing
just 200 mails to be stored. By using Tonsho the average size can drop to 75 kB, allowing
1300 mails to be stored in the same 100 MB mailbox quota! This couldn't be achieved with an
Outlook plugin which wouldn't reduce the size of inbound files.
By using the Tonsho Exchange Plugin all the large file storage is handed off to our cloud, meaning you no longer need to worry about
large files clogging up your Exchange database or otherwise loading your internal IT infra-structure.
In contrast to Outlook based plugins you only need to install the plugin once on your Exchange
Server, so it eliminates the support hassle and cost of installing Outlook plugins on
the machines of every user in your organization.
Installing our plugin is a snap and the user accounts configured in your Exchange system
automatically synchronize with Tonsho – with users added to Tonsho on-demand by the Exchange plugin
as they require large file transfer services. You can configure the threshold for extracting files,
which is set to 1 MB by default. Also, with Tonsho installed you may wish to increase your maximum
allowed file size from say 20 MB to 100 MB. For any attachments above this threshold, up to 5 GB,
your users get access to our web service, where they can take advantage of our bulk upload applet.
