What is Tonsho?

Tonsho is an email service which specializes in allowing you to easily send large email attachments- one large file or many. It also comes with a host of additional inbound email handling benefits, such as large file receiving and spam filtering. These additional services are optional.

Large file sending

Normally a large email attachment, usually over 5Mb, will bounce back marked undelivered. So if you're trying to send a set of photos, a large report with graphics or extensive reference sections as an attachment they just won't be delivered. Tonsho allows you to send files of up to 100Mb directly from your usual email program, that's 20 times larger than a standard email service usually allows! It also allows you to do this without having to upload the attachment separately to a website - you just send an email as normal with the attachment, using your usual email program (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Mac Mail or Thunderbird on Linux).

For those users with heavier email attachment requirements, Tonsho provides a web-based email service which can be used to send files of up to 5Gb. The bulk upload ‘drag-and-drop’ facility on the web service console can also be used for sending numerous files more easily.

The web service is also invaluable when you are out of the office and unable to use your usual email program. As long as you have access to a computer with an internet connection then you still have the power to send large email attachments of any size.

This is hassle-free, portable, heavyweight mail.

Inbound Email Handling

Receiving email is often not as simple as it seems. People try to send you large files that your email server bounces back, or you miss important emails because your inbound email server decides it is spam when it isn’t. So frustrating!

Tonsho solves both of these problems with its inbound email handling features.

Inbound file stripping and Dropboxes

Keep your existing email address and choose to get Tonsho to handle your incoming email. It will strip out any large attachments from your emails and provide you with a link to download the attachments. This stops your inbox from getting clogged with large file attachments, or worse, the email being bounced back because your usual email server can’t handle it.

For premium account holders, dropboxes are available for receiving large files. Rather than regular large file senders having to email you, they can upload and drop the file into your dropbox instead. This means that they don’t have to sign up for an account. You can then choose when to download the files, so your inbox does not get clogged.

Spam

Unwanted spam (junk) mail is the problem that threatens to take over your inbox. Standard spam solutions seek to resolve this by automatically attempting to recognize spam emails before they reach your inbox and sending those emails to a junk folder. Tonsho spam filtering enables you to regain control by letting you state which senders you would like to always receive mail from (this is know in the industry as white listing). This way their mails should never end up in your junk mail folder. All you have to do is create and maintain an allowed contacts list.

If you are sent an email from someone new who is not on your allowed contacts list, using Tonsho you will still not ‘lose’ this email. Tonsho regularly provides you with a brief summary list of any emails that have been blocked (i.e. from senders that are not on your allowed contact list). This allows you to easily identify any emails that you do want to receive and with one click lets you unblock them (effectively adding them to your allowed contacts list) so that they arrive in your inbox along with any future emails from those senders.
